Even though I did put a single little quirk into it, this is one of my better designs for a site that's text-heavy. Since all the backgrounds are dark, the white text shows up well. But the quirk is that not all of the backgrounds are the same. What look like color backgrounds are actually solid-color images "standing in" for colors that aren't on the web-safe palette. Each one was made by lifting a color from the left border background, using Paint Shop's eyedropper tool.

Here are the background tiles: the border background and the 7 page body colors. The border background is on all of the borders, even those not set to show on the default page layouts. If you save the backgrounds to your hard drive, you can substitute one color for another on any pages you wish. Remember to treat the solid colors like images - they need to be tiled horizontally and vertically. If you sight a color in the border background that you like better than any of these, why not make your own? Short instructions are here for doing it in Paint Shop.
The navigation arrows used in this web design were also made using Paint Shop and can be copied to your hard drive for future use:
